Selmer Jail McNairy County, TN

The McNairy County Courthouse at Purdy burned in 1881 and we lost all early records, except land deed. Marriages start ca 1861. Wills 1872. Chancery Court and County court files start ca 1860. No Circuit Court flat files have been found until after 1900.

McNairy County was formed out of Hardin County, Tenn in 1823. The courthouse is located in Selmer, Tenn. We have ten muncipalities: Adamsville – Bethel Springs – Eastview – Finger – Guys – Michie – Milledgeville – Ramer – Selmer – Stantonville.
